Taking it to the Next Level

It was an early morning for student-athletes as National Signing Day rolled around on November 14th at Norman North High School.

There are two signing days held in the school year, one in the fall and the other early spring. Norman North honored the 13 student-athletes who signed their letters-of-intent to further their academic achievements and sports careers to the next level.

The first ones to sign were basketball. Jacie Evans committed to Harding University in Arkansas to join the women’s basketball team. Josh Crutchfield committed to Northern Oklahoma College in Enid to further his academics and basketball career. Lastly, Shemar Smith signed with the University of Central Oklahoma to play basketball, starting next fall.

Abi Davis is taking up her love for volleyball at Southwestern Christian University. Davis was playing varsity volleyball while juggling band and school work in her past years at North, making her an excellent fit for a collegiate sports team.

The Timberwolves had five athletes who are continuing their soccer careers into college. Allison Austin and Elle Abbey will stay together and go on to play at Oral Roberts University. Katie Fowler signed with Oklahoma Baptist University to play, and Jenna Miller signed to John Brown University in Arkansas. While we saw many girls go on, we will also see Jameson Biles continue on to Northeastern State University to play as well.

Softball and baseball have been popular and successful sports for past years. Adrianna Swan, catcher, and shortstop, signed with East Central University in Ada for softball. We also saw Dalton Smith, catcher, sign with Northeastern State University.
