The first quarter was fought hard by both teams but ended with the Lady Timberwolves ahead by three points. The three top players were Kennedy Cummings with three points, Jessika Evans with five points, and Jacie Evans with four points to push the Timberwolves on top.

Before the half, Mustang was ahead by only one point with four minutes left. Kayton Kite drained four three-pointers to help put the Timberwolves ahead by seven points, making the score 29-27 to end the second quarter.

Kite had put up 12 points in just one quarter of the game.

The girls were confident in the way they were playing, touting a six-point lead with five minutes left in the third. There was no doubt in their minds that they would be moving on to the final round of the State Championship at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
