Behind The Scenes of SpongeBob
The Spongebob Musical ran from the 26th-28th of February, and many people enjoyed the play while it ran, but what about all the work that went into it? Today we’ll go through the process that made the magic happen.
Over 70 people were involved in the making of the play, this includes makeup, costumes, chorus, lights, music, not to mention the actors and chorus. In the beginning, practice went from 5-7 after school and only occurred 3 times a week. However as time went on, it eventually went from 4:30 to 9:30 and happened every day after school.
The practices covered a variety of things and would change depending on what they needed. Some days worked on entrances, exits, and placement (known as blocking), while other days focused on music and choreography.
Stage Technicians also had their fair share, working on set pieces, stage lights, mics, and much more behind-the-scenes work in order to keep everything running smoothly.
A small rehearsal was held in the Norman North Library, in order to generate hype for the upcoming play of SpongeBob: The Musical. Two songs were played, the first being the theme song for Spongebob Squarepants, and the second song being No Control. Before the teaser in the library, the actors and choir practiced in one of the library classrooms where they did a run-through of the two songs they were performing. During the performance, a large number of students were watching as they finally showed a part of what they worked so hard for.
All in all, for just how great the performance was, an even greater amount of effort went into it.
