Swift Announces ‘The Tortured Poets Department’

Sunday, February 4th, Taylor Swift announced what will be her 11th studio album during the 2024 Grammy Awards. The Tortured Poets Department will be released on April 19th with 16 tracks.

Fans speculated Swift had something up her hat as she had changed her profile picture to black and white Sunday morning. Freshman Sophia Zhao said “I was expecting Taylor to announce Reputation Taylor’s Version, and was a bit disappointed we still won’t be getting it for a while.”

Joe Alwyn, Paul Mescal, and Andrew Scott have a WhatsApp group chat titled ‘Tortured Man Club.’ “The title is most definitely a jab at Joe Alwyn” says Sophomore Rhea Tulshan “I would place a bet that this is the breakup album Swifties have been waiting for.”

Swift released the tracklist revealing that the album will feature Post Malone and Florence + Machine. “I don’t know what to expect on the Post Malone feature,” says Senior Jason Jenkins “Fortnight will be the song I listen to first.”

Alongside Jon Batiste, boygenius, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Rey, Janelle Monáe, Olivia Rodrigo, and SZA, Swift was nominated for album of the year. Midnights, Swift’s won the Grammy, marking her 13th Grammy.

“I was hoping Lana would receive the Grammy. I think its far past time for her to receive a Grammy, and its disappointing to see her get robbed year after year, but given how Taylor was 2023”s “It Girl” I should not be too surprised” remarks Junior Neslihan Üzegül.

Swift’s The Eras Tour was the highest-grossing concert in history, being the first to break $1 Billion. The album has been in the works for two years, with fans just learning of its existence on the 4th.
