Final Exam Exemption Form 2020

In her weekly dated Friday, December 6th, Dr. Gray unveiled DEN’s plan to exempt a final for students with exceptional attendance, behavior, and grades. Starting next semester, any student may fill out a form if he or she has met certain requirements to exempt one final of his or her choice. First, the student must have an “A” in the class. One focus of the exemption is on student attendance.  And students must have a clean (behavioral) record.

Some of the requirements are as follows:  students can not have any unexcused absences in any class, not just the class they want exempt, but ANY CLASS, including Advisory. Students can not have more than two tardies in the class they are wanting exempted.

After the form is filled out, students take it to their assistant principal. Principals and teachers have the right to take away the privilege of omitting the final based on behavioral issues.  We have attached a copy of the form as there are roughly ten requirements listed that must be met before the exemption can be approved. There are many factors that go in to the decision that it seems almost impossible.  Dr. Gray wants to reward the people who try their hardest. It’s not guaranteed. There are many hoops through which to jump. Then after submission, ALL requirements must be met by the student and checked by the faculty. Good luck Timberwolves!

Check out procedure for finals: Student MUST REMAIN in their finals classrooms for at least hours. If a student completes their final by the two hour mark, the student may quietly leave IF they provide a signed, handwritten note from a parent or guardian to their teacher upon entering the classroom. If a student submits a note, they MUST LEAVE CAMPUS.

Forgotten notes won’t be delivered after the final has started and students who don’t provide a note will be required to stay in the classroom for the entire scheduled time.

Texts or emails cannot be accepted. CHECK OUT PASSES WILL NOT BE SENT TO AVOID DISTURBING THOSE STILL TESTING.
