Mr. Porch gives some insight into his past

Today, two members of The Howl got the opportunity to sit down with our new athletic director Dusty Porch. Porch recently joined our family here at North and was eager to welcome us to interview him.

Q: Where are you from?

A: “I’m from Norman, I’ve lived here my whole life except for a few years when I went to college. I am a Norman North alumni and graduated in 1999 making me the second class to ever graduate here.”

Q: What made you want to come back to North?

A: “The culture of being at Norman North and being an alumni I wanted to get back into the program.”

Q: Have you ever worked at a school in the past or been a coach?

A: “So actually I’ve been the principal out of Robin Hill School for the past year and a half and also acted as the athletic director out there for three years. I also coached 6A high school baseball in Edmond and Yukon before going out to Robin Hill and now I’m back here.”

Q: How do you like being at North so far?

A: “I love it so far. The people are nice, we have a great group of coaches here, and it’s just really great to be a part of this program.”

Q: Did you play any sports growing up?

A: “I was two-year varsity here on the baseball team. I grew up playing basketball as well, but only played one year of high school. I also played in college for three years.”
