Class of 2021: The Hoax is a Joke
Norman North has recently received fake news. A letter, supposedly written by NPS Board of Education, started circulating via social media on Thursday, November 21, 2019, around 1:00 PM. The letter appears to be a legitimate memo describing upcoming changes with graduation as it pertains to the class of 2021. Among other ridiculous claims, such as, “there will be no parties,” and “read a book” to celebrate instead, the letter boldly asks: “Are you smarter than 5th grader?” Another claim in the letter is that “graduation will no longer be held at the Lloyd Noble Center. The district can no longer afford the expense of renting the center.” When the news of this letter came to the attention of the class of 2021 they took notice. The letter goes on to explain that “The NHS and NNHS graduation ceremonies will be in each school’s largest gym.” The identity of the author and origin of the letter is under investigation, we will post updates as we get them. It is not our practice here at The Howl to give any attention to fake news, however, we wanted to bring attention to this particular story and to clarify that the purpose of this memo is for entertainment only. As of press time, the office staff has been taking phone calls and students coming up to the office with complaints about the information presented in the letter.
