North Wins Elgin Marching Contest
The Norman North marching band won first place at the Elgin Owls Southwest Showdown Third Annual contest on October 1st. This broke many records the band had never set before. 5 categorical trophies were awarded as well as first place. The band competed against many other schools from all around Oklahoma and came out number one. A sophomore in Colorguard, Anna Zheng, says, “It was very exciting getting first place! Everyone worked very hard and I’m glad it paid off. The moment was very exhilarating and we’ll do even better at OSSAA.”
This was one of the last contests to end the marching band season, and it exceeded expectations. The last competition is OSSAA, also known as the state contest. Everyone makes sure to support the marching band at football games and give them the encouragement to continue their record-breaking wins.
