Over the course of the winter season, the Norman North Color guard has come together and formed the Winterguard. This is the first time Norman North has ever formed a Winterguard, and it has been a huge success! They began at the beginning of December, right after marching band ended. While they haven’t gone and won anything yet, the Winter guard has gone out and made a lot of progress with their performance. Many believe that they do have a good chance of taking home a victory later this week, with more to come as the Winterguard continues to become greater and greater.

“I feel very happy in guard, but sometimes am a bit frustrated due to hard choreography,” Isabella Strandridge, current Winter guard competitor stated during an interview. “My favorite part of Winterguard has to be the competitions; I just love making new friends from different schools and performing to new audiences.”

The song the color guard is performing is Love Someone by Jason Mraz, a love song to match their theme. Their theme is made to be romantic and beautiful, with many people in the performance having their own solos. The Winterguard has already represented Norman North in 3 different competitions, including Choctaw, Adair, and Putnam City. Later this season they will compete in three more competitions, two in February and one in April. If you see anyone you know in Winterguard this season, please wish them good luck in their performances!
