Spooky floor 10 of the Skirvin

Founded in 1911 by W.B. Skirvin, the Skirvin Hotel located in downtown OKC has been surrounded by controversy and mystery since its opening. The Skirvin has housed very famous household names such as Elvis, Paul McCartney, former president Ronald Reagan, and many NBA teams. According to the legend, W.B. Skirvin had an affair with a maid named “Effie” that led to a pregnancy. To protect his reputation, Skirvin locked Effie in the attic of the hotel. According to accounts of people from the area, Effie went insane and jumped out of the window. Hauntings and mysterious happenings began soon after, such as ghostly cries, moans, and groans, but the most notable hauntings were the ones reported by NBA superstars. Chicago Bulls center Ed Curry had a room on the 10th floor, where Effie and her baby are most active, and he was so scared of the sounds that he had to share a room with Nate Robinson. Derrick Rose, a player who grew up in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the US, couldn’t even spend a night in the hotel without bunking with another player. During the 2010 playoffs, the Lakers left OKC exhausted and scared of the Skirvin due to the spooky things that happened while staying there. The Skirvin is a spooky, scary place that is perfect for a Halloween scare should you get the chance to stay there.
