Parents, Go Back to School!

Norman North was open for business Monday, August 26, for Open House, an event where parents could further grasp the general feel of Norman North and their affiliate Moore Norman Technology Center (MNTC).

Hundreds of families showed up to the evening event held at Norman North from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. While the main objective seemed to be visiting with teachers and administrative staff to find out what their kids are learning, parents also wanted to know where their kids were during the day.

Between meeting different families, teachers also got work done while in their classrooms. Usually, they were working at their desks making sure the first day would be successful. Very few parents stood outside waiting for the opportunity to see inside their students’ classrooms.

There were also several booths in the NN commons that promoted technology classes and concurrent enrollment. For example, the MNTC booth was open during Open House in the commons. This booth contained MNTC pamphlets, scholarship information, and free pencils promoting the vocational school. The booth was very busy all night long, with families learning more about what classes their kids are taking and could be taking at MNTC during their high school career and beyond.

One of the best things about Open House was near the front door of the commons. This was a booth where you could buy Norman North spirit shirts in whatever design you wanted, perfect for the North-High game or any other Norman North sporting event. Cheer usually has a spirit shirt for sale every year. Also, the North Store was open for anyone who wanted fan gear and NN apparel.
