The Girls Soccer Dynasty

- London Brammer, Sports Writer

Norman North girl’s soccer has been rolling in recent years and has continued that this season with wins against Southmoore, Westmoore, Edmond Santa Fe, and an 8-0 win against cross-town rivals Norman High. Since 2017, our girl’s soccer team has appeared in 4/5 6a state championships, and of those 4 appearances have won twice. They also won back-to-back state championships (2019 and 2021 with a gap year in 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic). They have continued to be a dominant team in recent years and have continued that this year. While they came short of winning state this year, the girl’s team placed second this year.

A vital component of their success can be attributed to the senior captain Presslee Amick. Presslee commands the ship from the center of the midfield and wears the #10.  Pressslee is busy in the classroom with concurrent classes and still finds time to give lessons to younger soccer players who look to her as a role model. Her leadership and discipline have translated easily to the pitch. This season finds Presslee assisting potent younger players such as Narissa Fults and Presley Boyd who can translate the well-placed pass into a goal. With a young core and a culture of success, the Norman North Girl’s soccer team will be a dominant force for years to come.
