Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness
With Tiger King being crowned the biggest blockbuster of the COVID-19 era and racking up 5.7 billion streaming minutes for the seven original episodes, it felt only fair to give my input. I was hesitant at first to watch the series. I thought the hipe was overrated until I watched it, and let me tell you this is nothing like I’ve seen before. This docuseries has it all, polygamy, murder, schemes, and lots of tigers. Not to mention the main location for the series is in our state, Wynnewood, Oklahoma.
For those of you who haven’t seen the series, it’s about a zookeeper owner named Joe Exotic or “Tiger King”. For many years, there has been a feud with the nonprofit owner of Big Cat Rescue owner Carol Baskin over the fates of the tigers in Joe’s zoo. This series will ultimately end with Joe’s incarceration for murder for hire. This series involves many other zookeepers besides and Carol and Joe and will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
Joe Exotic was sentenced to 22 years in prison this January for his murder for hire plot and other wildlife-related violations. Joe paid a hitman $3,0000 to kill his rival Carol Baskin and admitted to killing 5 tigers in October 2017. Joe is currently maintaining his innocence with posts on Facebook.
I would also like to say that this series does deal with some topics such as suicide, animal cruelty, and murder. Viewer discretion is advised if these sort of topics are sensitive to you. For more information about Tiger King visit the website below.
