The annual Crosstown Clash basketball games were played by both boys and girls basketball teams at Norman High School on Friday, Dec. 14.

Going into the game, the Varsity Girls were undefeated, and the Varsity Boys had only lost one game so far. The student section showed out for the rival game; it was full of green from the start of the girls’ game until the end of the boys’ game.

The Lady Timberwolves went out first, and the game was intense from the very beginning. It started with the Tigers only a few points ahead of the Timberwolves, but by the end of the first quarter, the Timberwolves were leading 14-12.

Going into the second half, the Timberwolves were trailing by five points, but not for long. Junior Jessika Evans drained five three-pointers throughout the game, combining for 27 points.

With a little under two minutes to play, sophomore Kennedy Cummings hit a three-pointer that extended the Timberwolves lead to 46-42. With just over 30 seconds left in the game, Senior Jacie Evans was sent to the free throw line, where she pushed her team back in the lead by making both of her shots. The score was 48-47.

The Tigers could not defeat the Timberwolves in the 30 seconds that were left in the game, and the Lady T-Wolves remain undefeated at 7-0.

Later on in the night was the Varsity Boys game. This game was more of a blowout game, unlike the girls. The NN boys beat the Tigers by 29 points, with the final score of 74-45. Senior Shemar Smith combined for 20 points and 13 rebounds in Wednesday’s game and sophomore Jaylon (JJ) White combined for 18 points.
