Tigers Suffer Defeat at the Hands of the Timberwolves

On Thursday, August 31st, 2023, the Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium opened its doors to host the historic rivalry match between the Norman North Timberwolves and the Norman High Tigers for the first time in 4 years.

Norman North made the first touchdown after an inside pitch from Owen Eshelman to Will Lunquist. Lundquist rushed into the endzone with 6:01 left in the first half, the Timberwolves leading 7-0.

Both teams had a combined 4 turnovers in the first half. Norman High was unable to use the turnovers to their advantage and were left trailing 7-0 at halftime.

The second half began in a furious battle for the ball. Both teams continuously turned over the ball.

Early in the 4th quarter, Timberwolves fans watched eagerly as Owen Eshelmen broke the tension and ran the ball for a touchdown. Fans’ expressions quickly turned from smiles to disgruntled frowns, as the referee removed the touchdown due to a penalty.

Norman North saw a chance for redemption with 5 minutes remaining in the game. Owen Eshelman scored on a short run around the left side putting the Timberwolves at 14-0.

With only 2:15 left on the clock, the Timberwolves got one last opportunity to score and did so, effectively ending the game 21-0.

Norman North will play their next game against Edmond Santa Fe on Sept. 8, 2023, at the Wolf Den in Edmond.
