Girls Golf Swings Into 1st Place

Thursday, March 31, Girls Varsity Golf placed first in the 12th Annual John Marshall Tournament at Cedar Valley International Course in Guthrie with a team score of 343.

It was a cold day with temperatures in the low 30s rising into the high 40s with a breeze. Blaine Bruton, senior, shot a 75 and secured her first-place individual win. Syrah Javed, sophomore, shot an 83 and got third place.

Sophomores, Zi Ward, shot an 89, Teah Comeau a 97, and Kennedy Carlason, freshman, a 96. These scores helped lock in the first place win. The top four scores are taken for the team score.

The girls also played Tuesday, March 29 at Choctaw Creek and Wednesday, March 30 at Westwood. Tuesday, Blaine got fourth place shooting an 81, and Wednesday she came in seventh with an 83. Tuesday, Syrah came in tenth shooting an 86, and Wednesday she came in fourth shooting a 79.

The girls have had a good start to their season. They play Monday, April 4th at the Greens in Oklahoma City. Wednesday, April 6th they play at Lincoln Park for a State Preview.
