Salad club was initially dreamt up by former student Collins Liu, but after he left the school he passed his legacy onto Daniel Basey, the club’s current president. Originally the club was a joke and members were planning to come together to eat carrots and lettuce, but now the new president decided to shift the club into a service club to ensure that people in the community have access to food. Service isn’t required in this club so any hours you accumulate from the club can be transferred to NHS or Key Club. The club plans to come together to gather food from stores that otherwise would be sent to the dump, gather food, help with UNICEF, and volunteer at local food pantries. Although eating salad isn’t the club’s primary thing anymore, the club will still periodically eat salad together, but for now, the club is primarily encouraging healthy eating. Anyone is welcome to join, and the meetings are held every other Wednesday during upperclassmen lunch in room S215.
