Boy’s Varsity Tennis with their arrowheads won from regionals in Mustang.

As we inch closer to the end of our school year, spring sports are also coming to a close. Boys Varsity Tennis have proved themselves as true competitors in the state this season, coming home with plenty of hardware from the 12 tournaments they have competed in. Their coach, Kirk Hays recognizes their achievements. He says “This may be one of the strongest tennis teams Norman North has ever had, I am seriously proud of these boys.”

The boy’s varsity tennis team competed at regionals on Monday, May 8th, and gave an excellent performance. Our 1 Singles player Brian Joo placed 2nd, along with 2 Singles Tage Rex, and 2 Doubles players Andrew Irick and Cooper McGuire. 1 Doubles players Matt Dillion and Hadden Blackman placed 3rd, which means all of the Varsity Boys are headed to state! Additionally, at regionals, Norman North was able to secure a clean sweep versus Deer Creek High School, which has been a fierce competitor in recent years.

This year is a significant year for Norman North Tennis because much of the team is comprised of seniors who will be leaving in just a few weeks, making this 4 of the 6 varsity players’ last state tournament. This has only raised their hopes higher for this weekend. “We can all hang on the court with anybody they put us up against at state”, says Senior Tage Rex. “Winning is just a matter of putting our minds to the task.”

State will take place at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center on Friday, May 12,

and Saturday, May 13. The tournament will last all day, and tickets are sold online for $10 at this link. Good Luck Tennis!
