On Friday, September 24, the football team took on the Mustang Broncos at Harve Collins Field.

The second half of the game was action-packed. The Timberwolves were down 21 points in the third quarter. The score was 21-42 and it was no longer a “close game”.

North’s student section got loud to cheer on the team hoping to give them some motivation, which ended up getting them a touchdown making the score 28-42. Mustang got through North’s defense to gain more points, but the Timberwolves did not give up there.

Entering the fourth quarter, Quarterback Gavin Frakes found Cason Cabbiness down the line for a touchdown bringing the score to 35-49.

At this point in the game, everyone in the stands was on their feet.

The Timberwolves kicked an onside kick, but Mustang got to the ball first. It was not long until the Timberwolves got their hands on the ball again by forcing Mustang to turn it over after the fourth down. Gavin Frakes ran the ball into the endzone to make the score 42-49. Just two minutes later, Frakes found Brayden Dorney open wide in the endzone giving the T-Wolves six more points after the failed two-point conversion.

After stripping the ball from Mustang, North had the ball within the 20-yard line. With just 3 seconds left, they planned to kick the ball for a field goal to seal the game.

The time ran out and North lost by one point to Mustang making the final score 48-49. The play happened so fast that everyone was confused and in shock.

The football team will travel to Owasso tonight to come back from last week’s loss.
