Norman North Marching Band at Yukon

The marching band competed in the Yukon Invitational Marching Contest on the 24th of September. Prior to the contest, band students worked very hard to prepare to represent Norman North. Trinket Hand, a freshman in the band says, “The band worked every morning for 2 hours and often enough 3 hours every evening; let’s just say, we were totally prepared and absolutely crushed those other bands.”

8 renowned judges from all over the Midwest came to judge and critique at the contest. At only 11:30 AM, the band performed at prelims. After a break, the band got back together and smashed finals at 8:15 PM.

Out of the 14 schools that competed in finals, Norman North earned 7th. From the big fallout in 2020, the band made a tremendous comeback and exceeded expectations. The marching band gave it their all performing on the field. “Last year the band got 12th place at Yukon, and this year we got 7th, so it’s a huge improvement, ” says Hayden Barrowman, “I’m extremely proud of how far we have come!” The marching band gave it their all and is ready to kick butt in the future.

“We are extremely proud to have gotten to showcase all the hard work our students have put in this year. They threw down last Saturday and we’re ready to do it again. Go T-Wolves!”  – Ms. Fitzgerald (assistant band director)
