Burnin’ Up The Dance Floor At Nationals
The Norman North Pom team left for Florida the Tuesday before spring break to compete in the NDA nationals. The girls on the JV and Varsity pom teams have spent countless hours preparing for this competition in recent weeks. The Varsity team competed with three dances, and the JV team competed with two. After arriving in Florida, the girls went to Universal Studios on Wednesday to have some fun before they had to get focused on the competition ahead of them. The teams spent their time on Thursday practicing and preparing to compete in the prelims the next day.
The competition started with prelims which were held on Friday and Saturday. The Norman North JV pom team was competing with a jazz dance and a pom dance. Doing very well in prelims, they made it to finals in both of the categories. As they competed in the finals on both Friday and Saturday, all of their hard work paid off. The team placed 2nd in the JV Jazz category and 2nd in the JV Pom category. The Varsity team also competed very well, leading them to a great end to their season. The Varsity team competed with dances in the Jazz, Mix, and Gameday categories on Friday and Saturday in the prelims. After a very strong performance, all three of these dances made it to the finals which were held on both Saturday and Sunday. The Varsity girls ended with great success as they placed 3rd in large Varsity Gameday, 6th in medium Varsity Mix, and 8th in large Varsity Jazz.
This competition is very special for our Norman North Pom teams, as this is the end of their season and the final event for the seniors on the team. When asked how she feels about this being her last time competing as a T-Wolf, senior Haley Franklin said, “Thinking about this being the last time ever competing as a T-Wolf is hard. I have been dancing my whole life and thinking about not ever doing it again is going to be a change. This year has been the absolute best and definitely a year I’ll remember forever. North Pom has given me the best memories and experiences I will remember for a lifetime.” This year’s success is reason to believe that the Norman North Pom team has another great year to come in the future.
