Cross Country Run Into State
On Saturday both boys and girls cross country qualified for the 6A state meet and both teams placed top ten out of 14 in the 6a state meet with the girls coming 9th and the boys 10th. 2 runners placed in the top 50 for the boys; junior Jack Lindley (11th) and senior David Evenson (49th) and junior Kinley Kite for the girls finished 8th. In the 5k the boys had an average top 5 time of 17 minutes and 40 seconds, and the girls top 5 had an average time of 20 minutes, 36 seconds, and 5 milliseconds.
“The meet was an amazing experience. It was the first time that both teams had been to state in 6 years. We gave it all we had and we ended up finishing 10th for the boys. We were originally ranked 12th. And XC has been another family for me. All of my teammates pushed me to always do my best. It was a lot easier getting through the workouts with a band of brothers beside me” – Senior Kaleb Favaloro
The following years look hopeful, with many young runners placing high for both boys and girls, and could come back even stronger the following year. Overall both teams qualifying was a huge accomplishment and even though it’ll be sad to see the seniors leave, this year will be one to remember.
