Junior Aja Green goes to block a ball at the net

- Brandon Johnson, Co-editor in Chief

On August 11th, 2022, in the North Gym, your volleyball girls swept the floor with the returning state champs the Jenks Trojans 3-1, and took the #1 spot. This game really set the tone for the girl’s season and may be a sign of more to come. This game was also important because Jenks took the title from us last year after a sad defeat.

The game started off with a fierce back and forth between the two teams. We pulled ahead in the first set with excellent serves and blocking skills proving that we had what it took to take down the Trojans. In the second set, the girls made a few mistakes leading to a loss, but it was only a minor setback for them. The third set ended in a victory for our girls, as well as the fourth. We won a total of 3 sets over Jenks’ 1.

Junior, Sophia Potts, a DS/Libero had this to say about the game, “Everyone on the team played to the best of their ability and left everything on the court so that we could earn our revenge from last year’s game. This game made me very excited for the rest of this season because we made a statement in the first game and I see a state championship at the end of this season.”
