The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America provide the young minds at Norman North an opportunity to take on leadership roles. Mrs. Jones has done a fantastic job leading this chapter and continues to work tirelessly to support these ambitious students. Not only does she coordinate volunteer and leadership activities, but she also makes sure all the members have fun and enjoy their time while in the club. She hosts dinners and holiday parties to lift up the spirits of the members.

The Norman North chapter of FCCLA has done a handful of events to help and support the community this year. They have hosted a food drive for Pantry Partners which goes directly back into our community and fellow peers. Pantry Partners is located right here in Norman on West Gray Street and is dedicated to ending childhood hunger and teen homelessness.

FCCLA has also hosted a group of volunteers at the 39th annual Cleveland County Crop Walk in part with the Norman Food and Shelter. CROP stands for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty and it is a nationwide effort to bring awareness and financial aid to fight hunger and poverty.

While FCCLA works hard to make Norman and Norman North a better place, they have a lot of fun events and activities too! They made a grand appearance at Norman North’s annual Spooktacular. Their scary good costumes put a smile on all children and parents in attendance. They also walked in the homecoming parade and had a booth at the homecoming carnival. The people flocked to their braiding station and everyone left with a beautiful hairdo.

The officers make sure that everything the FCCLA does runs smoothly and is a voice for the people. Presidents Garner Bell and Ruby Lee head the chapter and meetings, usually held Tuesdays during overtime. We can’t wait to see what they do next!
