Yesterday, Thursday, January 6th, from 6-9 P.M. SPUD has its annual SPUD Dodgeball. Each team is formed by groups of students up to 8 people per team. Teams play in a double-elimination tournament and are allowed life bands, life bands were $1, and allowed you to reenter the current round. SPUD Dodgeball was $10 to play and $5 to watch. All funds raised from SPUD Dodgeball go towards SPUD which helps raise money for our recipients, which you can read about here.

At 6 P.M. everyone met in the North Gym to start the tournament. Most teams have matching outfits and team names to make their team look and sound even better. Including teams like the BALLerinas, who were dressed in tutus and the Average Joes who wore durags. As time goes by more and more teams get eliminated which makes the competition smaller. Two teams play rounds of best 2 out of 3, the winner continues on to the winner’s bracket and the loser is eliminated. After talking to junior, Tyson Simmons who was a student from the winning team, The Island Boys, said “It felt great to come out here and play, we are now 2 for 2 champs one of SPUD Kickball and now SPUD Dodgeball.”
