The academic team meets every Friday at upperclassmen and freshman lunches in room S213. Since Noman North opened in 1997, the academic team has been a running club. Mr. Walt Shaw got the academic team up and running before he handed it off to Ms. Hart. Ms. Hart has been running the club since 2014, or 8 consecutive years.

In the academic team, we have weekly practices (on Fridays at lunch), where questions about history, literature, current events, mathematics, and science are read and team members buzz in to answer the questions,” says Ms. Hart, “At times it can be quite competitive!” These practices during lunch can eventually lead to team competitions, where teams from across Oklahoma come together and compete.

“Academic Team is a fun experience where I can just hang out with friends while also learning new things along the way,” says Kaleb Favaloro, (a senior in the club). The team practices and competes with a buzzer system. Whoever buzzes in first gets to answer. There are more details, but you’ll have to join to find out. The academic team gives its members a great chance for complex answer solving, heart-racing competitions, and great team-building skills.
